NYS HESC (Higher Education Services Corporation)

A main go-to website for FREE upcoming and on-demand virtual events for a detailed overview  of the financial aid process for New York State students and families. www.StartHereGetThere.ny.gov 

F.A.F.S.A. (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

The website of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It’s a user-friendly resource, and more importantly, it’s where you apply for federal aid, including Pell grants, direct subsidized and unsubsidized loans, and PLUS loans. www.fasfa.ed.gov

FASTWEB

If you are looking for a scholarship and other free financial resources, this is a great site. Once you register, you can access a database of awards based on your individual qualifications and needs. www.fastweb.com

EXCELSIOR SCHOLARSHIP

In combination with other financial aid programs, this scholarship allows students to attend a City University or State University college tuition-free. www.hesc.ny.gov/excelsior

COLLEGE NAVIGATOR

A great site for basic information about colleges.  It is a federal website is an excellent start to the college search process. www.nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator

FAIRTEST

As more colleges are turning to become test-optional, this site is an up to the minute resource to locate those colleges that don’t require applicants to submit SAT or ACT scores. www.fairtest.org

PETERSON’S

This site provides basic and clear understanding, along with practical advice about the various college options. This site will help in narrowing your college list based on your profile and interests. www.petersons.com

BIGFUTURE (BY COLLEGE BOARD)

This site allows you to create a profile of yourself, and then creates a roadmap to use in a very easy manner. It contains step-by-step guides to easily view a snapshot profile. It is also a great site to create an action plan year-by-year during high school. https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/

New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund

 The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) provides financial assistance and support services (e.g. counseling, tutoring, and developmental coursework) to students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds who attend participating institutions of higher education in the State of New Jersey. https://admissions.rutgers.edu/new-jersey-educational-opportunity-fund-eof

The New Jersey Tuition Equality Act

 The Law (Statute P.L. 2013, c.170), now in effect, allows undocumented students who meet certain criteria to qualify for the in-state tuition rates at all of New Jersey's public institutions of higher education. On December 20, 2013, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed into law Senate Bill 2479 (The Tuition Equality Act) referred to as the New Jersey Dream Act. If you are an undocumented student and wish to apply for in-state tuition status, please complete NJCU REQUEST FOR IN-STATE TUITION STATUS.
